Gameplay Mechanics
With a minimum bet requirement of $0.2 going all the way up to $100, Honey Rush is far from your typical Play’n GO video slot. There are a total of 37 symbols presented after each spin. The first and last reel contains 4 rows, consecutively increasing by 1 extra row towards the middle and forming a hexagonal shape.
To land on a winning combination, players need to connect at least 5 symbols anywhere on the grid in a single cluster. When a cluster of matching symbols is formed, the winning symbols dissipate, allowing room for new ones. This opens up the door for a chance to hit multiple back-to-back wins on the same spin.
Honey Rush Symbols
As in any other online slot, you have low-value and high-value symbols. The lower-paying ones consist of a blue flower, a pink flower, a red rose, and a sunflower. On the other hand, the higher-paying symbols feature a bronze coin, a silver coin, a gold coin, and a shiny diamond. Even though there is no scatter symbol in Honey Rush, the honeypot-shaped Wild Symbol more than makes up for it by substituting all symbols in the game.
Paytables
Of course, it’s completely understandable to never settle for anything less than high-value symbol combinations and returns. However, in Honey Rush’s case, both high-paying and low-paying symbol clusters can go up to 35+. If luck is on your side, you might potentially generate some juicy rewards. Let’s examine them more closely, as well as highlight the potential winnings each landed cluster can yield:

5 | 0.20 | 0.60 | 0.80 | 1.00 | 2.00 |

Special Features & Bonuses
Now that we’ve covered the basic aspects of the slot, it’s time to inspect some of the more lucrative features of Honey Rush. Landing on some of these might even secure you a win of up to 9000x your initial bet. It’s not too shabby for a honeycomb-themed slot if you ask us!
Rush Meter
As you carry out your spins, you will notice a gauge on the right side of the screen, filling up with stars after each winning cascade. The more winning cascades you land on a single spin, the more the Rush Meter charges and rewards you. As soon as you are finished with your spin and go for the next one, the gauge resets to zero.
The Rush Meter consists of 4 different stages during each spin and can award either a Drone Colony with a Sticky Wild or a Queen Colony. The Drone Colony will transform all adjacent symbols to match the middle one, resulting in a winning cluster of 7. The Queen Colony, however, will transform the entire grid into the same symbol as the middle one and grant you a hefty prize. Rush Meter stages include:
- Stage 1: If you land on 20 winning symbols during a single spin, you will be awarded a Drone Colony and a Sticky Wild.
- Stage 2: If 40 winning symbols are landed on during a single spin, you will be again awarded a Drone Colony and a Sticky Wild.
- Stage 3: If a whopping 80 winning symbols are landed on during a single spin, you will be awarded a Drone Colony and a Sticky Wild for the third time.
- Final Stage: If you manage to land on 160 winning symbols, you will be awarded a Queen Colony.
Wild Symbol
Honey Rush’s wild symbol takes the shape of a red jar filled with honey and can only be awarded through the Rush Meter. The role of the wild symbol is to substitute any symbol on the grid, depending on whether there are combinations of at least 4 identical symbols next to it.
The honey jar is a sticky wild, meaning that it will remain on the reels as long as cascading wins are made. However, every time the winning symbols dissipate, the wild symbol will move to the next field. You can expect multipliers of 1x, 2x, or 3x on all wilds, which can add up to a whopping 27x.
Cascading Wins
Every time you land on a winning combination, the clustered symbols disappear, creating room for new ones to drop, resulting in Cascading Wins. As long as identical symbols keep aligning themselves next to each other after a Cascading Win, another one will come along. Every winning symbol from Cascading Wins is added to the Rush Meter, ultimately increasing your chances of hitting the colony feature.
Colony Feature
The Colony feature consists of three different levels: Drone, Worker, and Queen. You can trigger a Drone Colony on the Rush Meter by landing on 20, 40, and 80 consecutive winning symbols in a cascade. The Worker Colony can be triggered randomly during any non-winning spin, and the Queen Colony is activated when 160 winning symbols are collected in a cascade.
The Colony feature clones the symbol residing in the very middle of the slot’s grid, creating a new cluster by transforming the adjacent fields. The Drone Colony creates a cluster of 7 symbols, and the Worker Colony creates a cluster of 7 to 15 symbols. The Queen Colony is the largest one and can transform anywhere between 20 and all 37 symbols on the grid.
Return to Player Rates
Honey Rush features a default RTP (Return to Player) rate of 96.50%, which is right up the alley with some of the other online slot titles by Play’n GO. Keep in mind that several other versions of the game maintain lower RTP rates, such as 94.50%, 91.50%, 87.50%, and 84.50%. When you’re ready to start your honeycomb adventures, make sure you launch the correct title in order to get maximum rates.
Wagering Requirements
As you probably figured out by now, Honey Rush does not feature a free spins mechanism. Instead, players have to rely solely on hitting winning clusters through the Colony feature. Should you accumulate any winnings throughout the Colony feature, they are still subject to wagering requirements.
Honey Rush: Your Pot of Sweet Spins and Wins
Play’n GO certainly used up most of their creative juices and tricks up their sleeve during the development of Honey Rush. Even though most players are accustomed to the traditional, square-shaped online slot format, the hexagonal grid structure is definitely a sight for sore eyes and worth a try.
The low-value and high-value symbol clusters can be quite rewarding if you’re lucky enough to hit some of the big ones. However, special features such as Cascading Wins, Rush Meter, Wild Symbol, and the Colony feature are where the game truly shines.
The Rush Meter, in particular, is where we were pleasantly surprised. Even though landing 160 or even 80 winning symbols in a cascade might seem almost impossible, that was truly not the case in our hands-on experience with the slot. In fact, we had less luck landing on a Worker Colony, which should pop up randomly in a non-winning spin, rather than landing on a Queen Colony through the Rush Meter.
If you are looking to start a brand new staking adventure with a slot that differs from what you’re probably used to, we highly recommend giving Honey Rush a go. You will be greeted with an extraordinarily satisfying spinning experience and slightly above-average RTP rates.
